What is DSIP?

DSIP (Delta Sleep-Inducing Peptide) is a nonapeptide (9 amino acids) that was first isolated from the thalamus of rabbits following electrical stimulation in the 1970s. As its name suggests, it was discovered through its ability to induce delta wave sleep in research subjects — the deep, slow-wave sleep stage associated with physical recovery, GH secretion, and memory consolidation.

DSIP influences the neural circuits governing sleep stage transitions — specifically promoting delta wave (Stage 3/4, or N3) sleep while reducing sleep onset latency.
